 'STUDENT INOVATION COMPETITION 2011' (SIC'11)

 Pertandingan  anjuran Fakulti Sains dan Teknologi, fakulti-fakulti dan Pusat Pengurusan Penyelidikan sebagai platform untuk mengenengahkan produk Islam yang inovatif dari kalangan mahasiswa USIM. Tujuan program ini adalah untuk memberi peluang kepada para mahasiswa untuk mencungkil bakat dan potensi diri dalam pelbagai bidang. Melalui pendedahan seperti ini mahasiswa berpeluang mengaplikasikan pengetahuan serta kemahiran yang diperolehi semasa belajar di universiti untuk mencipta inovasi demi pembangunan ummah.


 SIC'11 telah diadakan pada 12-13 April 2011 yang lepas, bertempat di Fakulti Pengajian Quran dan Sunnah, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.

ALHAMDULILLAH

Pelajar-pelajar Teknologi Kimia Industri tidak ketinggalan merebut peluang untuk menyertai SIC yang julung kali diadakan ini.

Dua kumpulan dari pelajar tahun 1 ICHEMTECH yang dikenali dengan kumpulan QUIMICA & OLEYL telah menyertai domain(kategori) Biotech,Medical and Dentistry.

Lebih membanggakan, kumpulan QUIMICA diumumkan sebagai JOHAN KESELURUHAN bagi 

kategori PRA SISWAZAH

Tambahan itu,kedua-dua kumpulan ini layak secara automatik untuk mewakili universiti ke

National Research And Innovation Competition(NRIC) di UNIVERSITI SAINS MALAYSIA pada bulan Jun akan datang..

ICHEMTECH'11 IS A SUCCESS

On March 9, 2011, seminar IChemTech'11 was successfully organized by the third year students of Industrial Chemical Technology (IChemTech) program.  Alhamdulillah, the participation was not only from the three batches of IChemTech students but also by students from three other universities namely UKM, UM and UiTM. The opening ceremony was officiated by Deputy Vice Chancellor of Students Affair and Alumni, Prof Dato' Dr  Mohamed Asin Dollah. The opening ceremony was made more meaningful by the gimmick performed as to symbolize us as the chemistry students by showing a chemical reaction between dry ice and detergent in water. In fact the seminar was made much more interesting with  a video presentation prepared by our Promotion and Publicity committee members. It was really a blast. The main lecture hall was echoed with the big applause from the audiences.

There were four speakers who had been invited to give the participants the broad perspectives of career prospects and challenges in the very demanding chemical industrial world. The speakers were Prof Dr Musa Ahmad, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic and Alumni, who presented on Chemical Industry and Career Prospects. For the second speaker, we got Prof Basharuddin from Malaysia Genome Institute. Prof Basha was delivering a speech on the Chemists at the Forefront of Industrial Development : from Petroleum to Personalized Medicine. He was a very excellent scientist. The most outstanding fact is that he had completed his PhD at the age of 26. Moreover, he had done double degree, taking Computer Science and a chemistry-related program at the same time. Indeed, Prof Basha is a very creative person. This can be proven from his very interactive slides.  

Next, we got Prof Emeritus Ikram M Said from InBiosis UKM. He was giving a talk on Research in Chemistry : Priorities& Directions. Actually, the organizing committees had suggested on another topic but since the title didn't interest him much, he changed it. He talked more on how to carry out successful research and what the purposes of research are. Lastly, we got Dr Abdul Aziz bin Omar, senior fellow-cum-lecturer of USIM as our speaker. Dr Aziz has diverse experience in petroleum industry for he had been with Petronas for more than 20 years as a Principle Researcher. The interesting stories he had told us made us enthralled to be working in the very demanding petroleum industry. The last session with him was so interactive as the students had asked several provoking questions. 

Before ending the seminar, we had carried out a photography session. All students from different universities seemed delighted to be captured by our cameramen. It was a wonderful event because we can mingle around with each other. Also we got to invite students from other universities to join the seminar and this is a very positive feedback since they finally got an eye for the new program offered by USIM under FST.

Industrial Visit to CSR

On March 2, 2011, the IChemTech students had gone to another industrial visit in CSR (Central Sugar Refinery) which is located in Shah Alam. They were joined by Dr Salina and also Dr Aziz. The one hour trip was very meaningful as the students were given a lot of informations regarding the real-life raw sugar refinery. In fact, they even got the golden chance to be a little bit much closer to the production site in sugar refining processes. There, they had been brought into the site which is well-equipped with many machineries like boilers and vacuum pans. The experience was so precious as they can see the real raw sugar refinery that is only known before this through reading and lectures in the campus. This kind of visit gave them a valuable opportunity to see how the industry looks like and what are the challenges and chances to be met in the future as the industrial chemists.

ICHEMTECH'11

Sebuah seminar anjuran Pelajar Tahun Tiga Teknologi Kimia Industri (IChemTech) akan diadakan pada Rabu,  9 Mac 2011 bertempat di Dewan Kuliah Utama FPQS, USIM. Seminar yang diberi nama IChemTech'11 ini bertemakan Chemical Industry: Global Prospect and Challenges. Isu-isu yang akan dibincangkan ialah mengenai peluang kerjaya dan juga cabaran dalam industri, terutamanya industri petroleum dan farmasi.  Antara lainnya seminar ini juga berkisar tentang tujuan dan hala tuju kajian (research) dalam lapangan sains kimia khususnya. Terdapat dua penceramah dari luar dan dua penceramah lagi daripada USIM. Penyertaan terbuka kepada yang berminat. Yuran adalah sebanyak RM10. Makan pagi dan tengahari disediakan.

WELCOME BACK TO THE NEW SEMESTER!

Assalamualaikum

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful...

Semester five had already left us and we will face another challenging but enthralling journey in semester 6. Yeah, no matter how much pointer you get in the previous semester, don't worry be happy folks! Just leave it behind, jalan straight and don't belok-belok coz we have another 3 semesters yet to complete. No more pressure, okay?

Let's see what we would be slogging for in the very imminent semester which would be starting next week on January 3, 2010.

Lets all pray that we will all strive for all these subjects. Man jadda wa jada.......
